BUZZCOCKS - DEMOS w LIVE w STUDIO w PEEL w VIDEOS

REPOST and ADD ON:  Going to squeak in this MEGAPOST for the weekend as it took me all week at work to organize this discography.  The videos are FLV so I included the VideoLAN freeware player for y'all to watch as this is killer early footage to give you the skinny on why Howard left to form Magazine.  Demos and stuff from old days of bloggin' for me as well as the live stuff.  Also R.I.P. to Pete Shelley and you can find more with a search in the upper left box.  If it looks like a song is missing like on the prenumbered 1976 demo that was unlabeled, it was an exact duplicate.  Thanks to old DU blog friend Dr. Drunk from his defunct blog drdrunkruinsitforeverybody for the ROIR tape above!!

The Dillards - Wheatstraw Suite LP 68 w Tribute To The American Duck LP 73 w Back Porch Bluegrass CD 63 w Live...Almost CD 64 w [With Byron Berline] Pickin' & Fiddlin' CD 65 w Copperfields CD 70 w Roots And Branches CD 72

Want to feature the vinyl I have pictured in the first two pictures that I had found at Goodwill long ago because they definitely are the sanctified platters but I have to wonder who the Grace Slick style singer is since they don't show her on the cover (at least I don't think so but could be a mislabel on the vinyl since I had trouble splitting songs on side 2 of Wheatstraw...anybody...Beuhler?).  I listed the other stuff from youtube last to keep a focus on how cool the vinyl sounds to me.  Per Discogs:  US progressive bluegrass and country rock group based in Los Angeles, California.

The group was originally based around singer-guitarist Rodney Dillard, and his banjo playing brother Doug Dillard, who both grew up in Salem, Missouri. Accompanying the brothers were mandolin player Dean Webb (2) and bassist Mitch Jayne. In 1962 the group moved to Los Angeles, where they met producer Jim Dickson, and secured a record deal with Elektra, eventually releasing five albums for the label. In 1967, Doug left the group and hooked up with Gene Clark, recording two albums as Dillard & Clark. After Doug's departure, banjo player, singer and songwriter Herb Pedersen joined the group, and they shifted to a more country rock style. The group had several more lineup changes in the 1970s, recording for the Anthem, Poppy, and Flying Fish labels. The group continued performing well into the 1990s, with Doug and Rodney also releasing albums with John Hartford.

SESAME STREET - LET YOUR FEELINGS SHOW! LP 77 w 7

O..K. I mentioned on my last few Sesame Street TV program from my youth that I bought this after that post to get to know some of the other characters which I did but then also found the 7 inch with the B-side called "Hello" that actually does give us the background on all the regulars on the show I had forgot about so mission accomplished!  Enjoy with the kids!

Red Rockers - Condition Red LP w CD Bonus 81 w Guns Of The Revolution EP w Good As Gold + Schizophrenic Circus 2CD 95

REPOST Request:  Wow, I didn't know they were from New Orleans home of the Men In Black but kind of makes sense now.  Per Discogs:  New wave - power pop band from New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.

Active between 1979 - 1985, they released three albums. They started in 1979 with the short lived names Stunn, James Jett, Derwood, Drummur and The Rat Finks, influenced by The Dils and The Clash. They took their final name by a 1980-released, same-titled song by The Dils. Their cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" from their debut album, features Jello Biafra as guest vocalist. In 1983, their original drummer Patrick Butler Jones was replaced by the ex-Stiff Little Fingers drummer Jim Reilly and in 1984 their original guitarist James Singletary was replaced by Shawn Paddock. Their biggest hits are "China" No.53 in U.S. pop charts in 1983, "'Till It All Falls Down", No.45 in U.S. dance charts, remixed by Ivan Ivan in 1983, both produced by David Kahne. Their rendition of P.F. Sloan's classic, originally a hit for Barry McGuire in 1965, "Eve Of Destruction", reached No.54 in U.S. rock tracks chart in 1984 produced by Rick Chertoff and William Wittman. After their break-up in 1985, guitarist - singer John Thomas Griffith formed Cowboy Mouth in 1990, guitarist James Singletary joined the New Orleans-based band Alexander Fly, drummer Jim Reilly and bassist Darren Hill (3) joined Raindogs (2) in 1985. Darren Hill (3) went on to join Klover in the mid-'90s and then he formed the management company Ten Pin Management.

Wow didn't know they swiped the highly regarded drummer of SLF during the Hanx! recording.

ROGER WILLIAMS - The Greatest Popular Pianist, The Artist's Choice 2CD 92

This was a sweet double CD from Goodwill with a ton of his songs on it for peop's like me who like the over-the-top versions of classic tunes that stretch the mind and sink in immediately for humming/whistling material.  Have posted his tunes on compilations in the past but never a full release like this!  Per Discogs:  Real Name: Louis Jacob Weertz

I guess it was on a business trip where I was listening to a radio station that was primarily focused on playing the music of Wes as main content with a few others that got me to start grabbin' vinyl when I used to go to record stores and even had to take the dish soap out to clean off mold from the fourth one down that must have came out right after he died so early having the dates on it.  Per Discogs:

Real Name: John Leslie Montgomery   Profile: American jazz guitarist.

RAINY DAY - st CD 94

REPOST Request:  I find myself still going to youtube after the pedal home from work and listening to one of my favorite Paisley Underground bands listening to 'Talking In My Sleep" or 'Kaleidoscope" or You Are My Friend or some other of the many great psychedelic songs that I was introduced to right after they moved from playing "The Cave" in Northfield, MN where I also moved from out of state.  But that makes sense since I favor 'The Big Lebowski" style of dude rock vocalists.  Added some live stuff long ago from who knows where and hadn't posted 'Demolition" before as I had that and the later band Rainy Day in my files to add here now.  Enjoy a favorite band!  Oh yeah, an old quote from critic Jim DeRogatis from his book 'Turn On Your Mind:  Four Decades of Great Psychedelic Rock [2003]:  'Emergency Third Rail Power Trip' is not only the best album from any of the Paisley Underground bands, it ranks with the best psychedelic rock efforts from any era!!!  How 'bout them apples?!!!
